Hosted by Cal Poly Career Services in partnership with the Orfalea College of Business, the Cal Poly Business Career Fair connects employers with driven, career-ready business students from one of the top polytechnic universities in the nation. Whether you're looking to hire full-time roles, recruit interns or build your brand on campus, this is your opportunity to make meaningful connections with students across various business disciplines.

For Students

This is your chance to meet recruiters and hiring managers face-to-face from companies actively looking for Cal Poly business talent. Come ready to make a great first impression — bring your resume, dress professionally and research the employers you're most excited about.

Before the Business Career Fair, we recommend you do a few things to get prepared: 

  1. Meet with a Career Peer Advisor: A Career Peer Advisor can walk you through what to expect, how to prepare, and how to talk about your strengths and experiences to a recruiter. Also, if you want some feedback on your resume and LinkedIn profile, a Career Peer Advisor can help! You can book an appointment or drop in the Career Readiness Center, 03-301 anytime Monday-Thursday between 10 AM - 3 PM. 
  2. Research companies attending the Business Career Fair: You can view all companies attending on MustangJobs. However, it can be a bit overwhelming so you can also use our searchable list of employers attending. 
  3. Save your Cal Poly Now Event Pass: When you arrive at the Career Fair, you will need your Cal Poly Now Event Pass. Open Cal Poly Now through your Cal Poly portal or now.calpoly.edu, go to your initials in the top right corner, and open QR code icon in the top right corner. Save to your Apple Wallet or screenshot. 

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How do I find out what a company is hiring for if they don’t have any jobs posted on MustangJobs?  Unfortunately, many companies don’t post all their jobs on MustangJobs. Check the company's website to see active job listings and don’t be afraid to just ask on the career fair.
  2. I’ve heard some people are getting early access to the Business Career Fair. Can I show up early too? Clubs that participated in the Business Career Fair Student Advisory Council received a limited number of wristbands to have access to the Career Fair at 9:30 AM. All other students will have access at 10AM.
  3. How long should I plan to be at the Career Fair? Students will need to check backpacks ahead of time, so plan for 10-30 minutes for backpack check and waiting in line to get in. We recommend trying to attend for at least an hour, but do your best with your availability. 
  4. Where do I find companies recruiting my concentration? Research companies on MustangJobs and their company website. Registration closes tomorrow, 9/11 A map will be released next Tuesday to make it easier to find the companies you want to talk to. Accounting recruiting will be upstairs. 
  5. What should I wear to the Business Career Fair?
Business casual to business professional. Do the best with what you have. Avoid activewear, casual denim, tee-shirts, open-toed or worn shoes. Check out the Career Services Clothing Closet to pick out up to 3 professional clothing items. 
  6. What should I bring?
Try to leave your backpack at home, if possible, to avoid backpack check. Bring printed copies of your resume in a folder or padfolio, along with any notes from your research. 
  7. Are the Finance, Accounting or Sales Career Fairs still happening? No, this event combines all Fall Business recruiting events. Several clubs are still hosting pre-Career Fair events to network with companies, info sessions, and meeting speakers with companies attending. We highly encourage attending the Career Fair, as well as club meetings, events, and info sessions next week.
