Dr. Kim received her Ph.D. in finance from the University of Southern California, an M.S. from the University of Rochester, and both an M.B.A. and B.A. from Seoul National University. She is also a certified public accountant (Delaware, inactive).

Her research spans asset pricing, mutual funds, real estate finance, labor economics, financial econometrics, game theory, and mechanism design. Her work has appeared in the Journal of Financial Economics and the International Journal of Portfolio Analysis and Management. Recent projects introduce a novel statistic (Comparative R-squared) and investigate the effects of uncertainty on opinion dispersion, as well as gender disparities in finance.

She has taught a broad range of finance courses across undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. levels, including Investment Analysis, Advanced Business Finance, Mergers & Acquisitions, Corporate Governance, and Empirical Methods in Finance. She has received recognition for teaching excellence.

Before academia, Dr. Kim was an associate at South Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service, where she received the Minister of Economy and Finance’s Award. She also held a research internship at the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI), a leading policy think tank.
