Business Athletes
Tia Miric | Big West Conference Scholar Athletes of the Year
Miric, a Mustang beach volleyball player and business administration student, was named as one of Cal Poly’s 2021 Big West Conference Scholar Athletes of the Year. These athletes were chosen from a total of almost 3,000 student athletes and were featured on ESPN. Miric is a back-to-back American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American, and helped lead the Mustangs to the Big West beach volleyball title in 2019.
Taison Corio | Mustangs Baseball
Cario hit his first homerun as a Mustang this spring. That achievement came on the heels of a 2020 campaign that included 11 starts in his first season at Cal Poly, highlighted by a walk-off single in the 10th inning that lifted the Mustangs to a 5-4 win over Michigan. After an unusual year in 2021, many fans were excited to watch Cario — alongside all the other Cal Poly and business student athletes — return to their sports.
Christopher Blevins | Olympic Cyclist
USA Cycling finalized the roster for the 2021 Olympic Games to be held in Tokyo, Japan beginning in July, and Orfalea College Of Businesses’s Christopher Blevins earned the team’s sole men’s spot for the games in mountain biking. That honor came on top of Blevins finishing second in the Under-23 World Cross Country Bicycle Championships in October 2020. That was his second silver medal at the UCI World Championships and just one highlight from a host of major accomplishments as a young cyclist.
