Professional Development Bootcamp

The Professional Development Bootcamp is a 6-week professional and career development program with career peer advisor guidance. 

  • Guided self-assessment to understand how to leverage your unique strengths, personality, and skills in pursuit of your career goals.
  • Focusing your personal brand by crafting elevator pitch, answering “Tell me about yourself” question, and identifying strengths and areas of improvement.
  • Discovering the right career/concentration path.
  • Specific guidance on how to prepare for success at a career fair.
  • Navigation through internship or job experience (tips/tricks, advice, experiences, professional communication & etiquette).

About the Program

Our Professional Development Bootcamp is a 6-week professional and career development program where you will be paired with a Career Peer Advisor who will guide and mentor you through your “tracks”.

What are “tracks”?

Tracks are specifically curated career readiness topics that can be personalized and adapted to each student’s needs. Students can choose up to 6 tracks.

  1. Guided self-assessment to understand how to leverage your unique strengths, personality, and skills in pursuit of your career goals.
  2. In-depth review with individualized feedback on your resume and cover letter.
  3. Walkthrough on internship/full-time search and etiquette through platforms such as Handshake, LinkedIn, etc.
  4. Focusing your personal brand by crafting elevator pitch, answering “Tell me about yourself” question, and identifying strengths and areas of improvement
  5. Mock interview to practice interviewing skills and practice responses/questions.
  6. Discussion on networking in different settings (in-person, virtual, career fair, social media).
  7. Discovering the right career/concentration path.
  8. Outline Alumni Mentoring Program logistics, meeting goals, and relationship responsibilities.
  9. Specific guidance on how to prepare to be successful for and at a career fair.
  10. Intentional conversation on Offer & Negotiation phase.
  11. Navigation through internship or job experience (tips/tricks, advice, experiences, professional communication & etiquette).

Commitment

  • Be available for a minimum of 2-3 hours per week with your Career Peer Coach
  • Mentoring sessions range from 1-3 times a week and can he held via phone, Skype/Facetime/Zoom, or in person
  • Complete any out of meeting assignments/deliverables from Career Peer Coach (ie. extra research, practice, editing resume, etc.)

Timeline & Applications
