Dr. Koushik Saha is a Professor in the department of Industrial Technology, Packaging and Entrepreneurship at the Orfalea College of Business in Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He received his Ph.D. and M.S in Packaging from Michigan State University. His other academic qualifications include a M.S. Food Science from University of Florida and B.S. Agriculture Science from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology in India.

Dr. Saha teaches in the Packaging concentration degree program. He is the instructor for Packaging Fundamentals and Quality Evaluation of Packaged Products. As well serves as an academic supervisor for internship and senior project courses. Additionally, he is the faculty advisor for the packaging minor program.

His research activities include projects related to food packaging & distribution along with food and package interaction. He has been involved in research projects funded by Federal Agencies and Trade Associations such as United States Department of Agriculture, Federal Aviation Authority, Fibre Board Association, and International Safe Transit Association. He actively undertakes research projects with companies in the sectors of food & beverage and packaging material. He is one of the principal investigators of the Cal Poly Packaging Research Consortium conducting research for their member companies.

He has published over 30 peer reviewed journal articles in journals such as Packaging Technology and Science, Journal of Testing and Evaluation (ASTM), Journal of Applied Packaging Research, and International Journal of Food Properties. Additionally, he has published in over 25 conference proceedings.

As part of his student service related activities he is the faculty coordinator for several student success related programs. These programs include the packaging career fair, packaging student club Poly Pack, Poly Pack Symposium, Instructional Related Activities – PackExpo and Transpack Forum.
