Ajay Kathuria

Ajay Kathuria is a tenured professor in the Industrial Technology and Packaging Area at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Before joining Cal Poly, Kathuria was an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

During his teaching career, he has taught a variety of packaging courses, including Packaging Fundamentals, Packaging Polymers and Processing, Packaging Machinery and Processes, Packaging Seminar, Instrumental Analysis of Packaging Polymers and Packaging Quality Assessment.

His research work is focused on materials chemistry, biodegradable polymers, composites, mixed matrix membranes, nanomaterials, high surface area porous compounds and host-guest complexes. He has coauthored various research papers in peer reviewed journals such as Polymer, Green Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry Letters, Polymer International, Journal of Crystal growth, Journal of Applied Polymer Science, Trends in Food Science and Technology etc., coauthored various book chapters and presented his research work in various conference proceedings.

He is active member of various professional organizations including International Association of Packaging Research institute (IAPRI) and Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP).

Ajay received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Packaging Science from Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI.
