Giving Opportunities

Giving opportunities for the Orfalea College of Business are focused on three areas: Student Success, Thought Leadership and Impact Hubs.

Student Success

Orfalea College enjoys the best 4-year graduation rate in the entire California State University system, and when our students graduate, they are prepared to contribute to the workplace. We attribute that success to providing our students with the facilities and current technology that gives them an edge. Meanwhile, our level of student support is unique to Cal Poly.

Gifts that advance student success will fund building modernization and upgrades to labs, including our Business Insights Lab and the Industrial Technology & Packaging Lab.  Gifts directed toward scholarships and our Student Success Center provides our students the support needed to excel in their studies while experiencing a sense of belonging and value.

Thought Leadership

Our faculty bring both vast industry experience and relevant academic research to the classroom, offering our students a comprehensive, cutting-edge business education. Support for thought leadership specifically allows faculty to hone and share their expertise, which, in turn, bolsters the college’s national reputation. That reputation helps us attract and retain top-notch educators, whose research will positively impact business and society.

Support for thought leadership funds faculty endowments, fellowships for research and teaching, and access to research data. It also funds our Summer Undergraduate Research program, an excellent Learn by Doing experience that pairs faculty with students to conduct current, relevant business research.

Impact Hubs

We want our students to have a positive impact on society – and they don’t always have to wait until they graduate.  Accounting students who work in the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic provide members in the community with a valuable service, helping them address significant and stressful tax challenges. Meanwhile, students who form startups in the Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship provide solutions to significant challenges, including health issues, enhancing quality of life.

By supporting our impact hubs – which also includes our Real Estate Initiative and Sales Initiative – you can also have a positive impact on communities.
