Benjamin N. B. Alexander is a tenured associate professor of management at the Orfalea College of Business at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where he previously directed the MBA programs. He earned his Ph.D. from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University and his M.A. from George Mason University.
Before entering academia, Ben worked at Marriott International and the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, and he has volunteered extensively in Cambodia, Israel, and the United States, including as an EMT.
Ben’s research spans stakeholder management, collective action, and research methods, with projects on social entrepreneurship, family firms, and organizational growth after adversity. His work has appeared in publications such as Organizational Research Methods, the Journal of Business Research, Family Business Review, the Journal of Applied Behavioral Science, and Nonprofit Management and Leadership. His current projects examine the U.S. opioid crisis and the role of AI and accessibility in education and training, extending his long-standing interest in how organizations navigate their responsibilities to multiple stakeholders.
