Hamed Ghoddusi

Hamed Ghoddusi is an associate professor of Finance and director of the Real Estate Initiative (REI) at Cal Poly. His research uses economic theory and quantitative models to study real estate, infrastructure and investment decisions. His current work examines the spatial economics, sustainability  and investment optimization of data centers, along with stakeholder engagement, local opposition  and project selection in major infrastructure development.

His research has appeared in journals such as Management Science, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Production and Operations Management, European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Energy Economics and The Energy Journal. 

Ghoddusi earned his Ph.D. in finance from the Vienna Graduate School of Finance and was a visiting doctoral student at the University of Texas at Austin. Before joining Cal Poly, he was an assistant professor at Stevens Institute of Technology, a postdoctoral associate at MIT, and a consultant with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization.

At Cal Poly, his teaching spans finance, real estate and analytics, with an emphasis on connecting quantitative methods to real-world problems.
