Kathy Carpenter

Kathy Carpenter serves as executive assistant in the Dean’s Office and has been a valued member of the Cal Poly community for nearly a decade. Originally from Cambria, CA, she returned to school and is completing her degree and senior project in Psychology at Cal Poly, demonstrating her commitment to lifelong learning and personal growth.

Throughout her career at the university, Kathy has supported a wide range of responsibilities, including event planning, financial processes, procurement, class scheduling, and special projects. She is known for her adaptability, attention to detail, and ability to keep complex operations running smoothly behind the scenes. Her colleagues appreciate her collaborative spirit, positive energy, and dedication to creating meaningful connections across campus.

Before joining Cal Poly, Kathy spent eight years as an office manager at a local civil engineering firm, where she developed strong administrative and organizational skills. Today, she finds the greatest reward in bringing people together through successful events, productive partnerships, and effective communication. Whether supporting faculty, staff, students, or alumni, Kathy is passionate about fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment where everyone feels valued, heard, and inspired to succeed.
