Minjoo Kim is an assistant professor of marketing in the Orfalea College of Business at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Before joining Cal Poly, she earned her Ph.D. in marketing and B.S. in marketing from Oklahoma State University.
Kim’s research examines how linguistic, paralinguistic and contextual cues shape individuals’ perceptions, judgments and behavioral responses. Her work spans two primary domains — sales interactions and brand communications — and employs experimental methods and acoustic data analysis to understand how these cues influence sales effectiveness and brand outcomes. Her research has been published in the Journal of Personal Selling & Sales Management and the Journal of Product & Brand Management.
She currently teaches Technology-Based Professional Sales at Cal Poly. She enjoys incorporating insights and findings from her research into her teaching to connect academic research with real-world sales practice.
Her hobbies include trying new foods, watching true-crime documentaries and traveling.
