Nelson Cutter

Nelson Cutter is currently teaching Legal Responsibilities of Business (Business Law 2207) for the Orfalea College of Business.

Cutter graduated from Cal Poly in 1976 with a degree in agriculture. He has been a prosecutor for the city of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was an Army officer with the judge advocate general, where he prosecuted cases at White Sands Missile Range from 1985-1988. He retired from the Army Reserve after 27 years in 2012.

For many years, Cutter had a private law practice in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and El Paso, Texas, primarily working with the soldiers and handling criminal defense. In 2000 he returned to California and opened a law practice in Encino, California, and in 2015 began teaching high school history, his real passion.

He is still an active member of the California Bar. He has two children and three grandchildren and loves the Central Coast very much.
