Onil Boussim

Dr. Onil Boussim is an assistant professor of Economics at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from Penn State, and a M.Sc. in Statistics and Applied Economics from the National School of Statistics (ENSEA), in Ivory Coast.
 
Dr. Boussim’s research interests focus on econometrics and causal inference, particularly the development of statistical methods for evaluating public policies when outcomes have complex structures. His research combines methodological innovation with applications in education, health, and energy. His work aims to develop practical tools that improve the reliability of quantitative evidence used in policy evaluation.
 
Prior to joining Cal Poly, Dr. Boussim was selected World Bank Africa fellow for the 2026 cohort where, where he contributed to research and policy analysis on development issues in Democratic Republic of Congo. At Cal Poly, he teaches and mentors students in economics and quantitative methods, with an emphasis on applying rigorous empirical tools to real-world economic and policy questions.
