Stern Neill, Ph.D., is professor of marketing in the Orfalea College of Business at Cal Poly. His teaching and research focus on marketing strategy, entrepreneurship, innovation, and strategic decision making in dynamic environments.

Neill’s research examines entrepreneurial thinking, organizational learning, innovation processes, and opportunity development. His work has appeared in journals including the Journal of Business Research, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Marketing Education, and Entrepreneurship Research Journal.

At Cal Poly, Neill teaches marketing strategy, customer development, and new product development, emphasizing applied, project-based learning and AI-augmented strategic thinking. He has served in leadership roles including associate dean and marketing area chair and currently serves as chair of the American Marketing Association’s Entrepreneurial Marketing SIG.
