Roughly 50 participants recently tee’d up at the inaugural Orfalea Open golf tournament, which raised money for the Dean’s Fund for Excellence.

The tournament, held May 3 at the Monarch Dunes Golf Course in Nipomo, included several games and a chance to win a free car with a hole-in-one challenge.

No one won the car – this time – but the Orfalea Open will return next year, and we expect it to be bigger and better.

Sponsors included:

  • Green Flag Sponsor: KPMG
  • White Flag sponsors: Murphy Bank, Alaska Airlines and Cal Poly Strategic Enrollment Management
  • 19th Hole Social sponsor: FzioMed
  • Hole-in-One Challenge: Rio Vista Chevrolet.

Several local companies also contributed raffle prizes.
